Lets Examine the Difference between Manic and Hypomanic;

A single manic episode is sufficient to diagnose bi polar.

Hypomanic may be indicative of bi polar and bi polar symptoms may be evident.

Symptoms of manic include rapid and pressured speech; negative and racing thoughts, decreased need for sleep, euphoria, impulsiveness, grandiosity, and increased interest in goal-directed activities.

Hypomanic on the other hand is a lowered state of manic behavior that does little to impair function or decrease quality of life. When hypomanic there are less tendencies for sleep, goal motivated behavior and increased metabolism.
